My car is a 2002 mercedes s430, it makes a clank-noise by the left front wheel ..especially when?
I turn left at an angle and now it is starting to do it when I make a right turn. especially when I pull in and out of the driveway while turning the wheel i hear the clank once only.. geez it sounds like my wheels are going to crack off .. jaja .. even my husband says "hey is your car breaking in half"! .. so i know now the sound is not normal .. anyhow we are taking it to the shop next week on my day off . but id like to get some opinions out there ..what could this possibly be?? .. many have told me its possibly the cv boot ? cv joint ? the axle? wheel bearings? ball joint ? .. help pls .. thanks alot I appreciate it.
the mileage is about 135k now.. i bought in 2005 at 45k miles .. and how much is this work gonna cost me? any ideas out there ? thanks alot ..
Since the S430 is a rear wheel drive car you can eliminate the CV joint, the boot, the axle, etc. Wheel bearings are unlikely. They would make a rumbling noise. Ball joint, control arm bushings, loose wheel, these are all possibilities. How many miles on the car?
