Jeep Hand Brake
2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited three (3) rear brake lights don't always come on together.?

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. It has the standard three (3) rear brake lights. For seven (7) years they always came on simultaneously. I just installed an electric trailer brake controller. I had to cut the rear brake light wire and extend it with a wire (a little thicker than the stock wire) so I could wire in the controller (which works great). Now my three (3) rear brake lights sometimes don't come on at the same time. One of the three (3) lights sometimes stays off for a second or two before coming on...and it is not always the same rear brake light. On the other hand, sometimes the rear brake lights work normal. I'm just wondering if that thicker wire has something to do with a delayed signal from the brake switch to the rear lights. Any thoughts?

It could be the ground wire or the wire you installed has a short somewhere causing a delay. Possible the thicker wire is taking away the volts needed to operate the lights correctly or if the tralier connection takes longer for the signal to loop back.
