Rebuild Kit Double
is my carb size to big or do i need a rebuilt kit?

Ok I have a 1973 dodge challenge 4 speed with a 340. I bought the motor dont quite remember the specs but is built. I'm running a 750 Holley Double Pumper with an electric fuel pump. My ? Is When I first had the carb bolted on it ran like a champ. Now when even i slam on the gas it spits and than takes off like no tomorrow. If I am running to big of a car can u make a recomened any other Holleys prefer. And a good site. Thank you for your time.

Check out the accelerator pump on the carb. Sounds like you are not getting that extra shot of juice when the throttle plate opens and the engine bogs until the jets can overcome the sudden air rush. With the engine off, look down the throat of the carb and open the throttle, You should see a stream of gas shooting into the carb throat. If not, the port is clogged or the accel pump diaphram is bad. Easy enough to replace it,

The 750 cfm carb should be fine. I had a 73 Challenger 340 six pack car with a total of 1355 cfm - ran like a raped ape. It was bored .030 over with a cam one step above stock. I, too, had the infamous bog on wide open throttle and had to tweak the accel pumps - took almost a year to get it dialed in (weekend warrior) but she would lay it down hard and heavy.

Holley carbs tend to have more troubles than other carbs. they DO require constant adjustments to keep them running right. If you decide to switch carbs, try the Edelbrock or Barry Grant carbs. I have switched to those and have excellent results with them staying set up,

Good Luck and enjoy the ride!
