How do you remove the window handle and door handle inside a car door to swap pout the speakers?
Hey! I just picked up a '96 Cavalier (only $400 
and the speakers in the doors are pretty crappy! I want to put in some older speakers I had from my last car. I can't seem to get the door panel off though because I can't figure out how to remove the window crank and the handle that opens the door from the inside.
How can I go about doing this?? Any help would be appreciated!
The special tool is handy and quick, but you can also get it off with a standard (flat) screw driver. Push in on the panel near the crank hub to expose an "ohm-symbal-shaped" clip around the shaft (normally a sort of gold~ish color), put your screw driver up against one of the prongs and jam the back of it with the butt of your fist. Keep your eye out for where it flies, 'cause you'll want to snap it back in when you're done.
As for the handle / cup, there should be a single screw (or none). Remove that and either slide the cup forward or back to disconnect it and slide it off of the handle. The handle will probably stay in-tact on the internal door. I'm not intimately familiar with that specific vehicle, but many manufacturers employ similar assembly techniques.
