Battery Master Disconnect
Can someone help me fix my computer, please?

I transported my computer on a 2 hr trip and now my everything on my IDE cables aren't working. I checked the diagnostics and I got a "CMOS batter failure" message on there. I changed the battery, but there is still no response from my IDE hard drive or my CD/DVD drive. (Yes, I switched the IDE ports back on after I changed the battery) I've disconnected, and reconnected the cables, I've blown the contacts out with compressed air, and still no dice. Both devices are set to Cable select, so the IDE cable should be setting the slave/master settings and both devices (well it's hard to check with the hard drive but,) seem to be getting power. The other errors listed in the BIOS setting page were:
CMOS Battery Failure
CMOS Checksum Error
CMOS Time Not Set (because I removed the battery to
change it no doubt)

My computer is a Dell Dimension E510. If anyone has any ideas, I will gladly listen as I would like to see my computer working again sometime soon. Thank you.

install the drive master/slave manually set,
run cmos setup,
select the defaults,
make sure ide emulation is enabled for sata (xp),

reboot with ubuntu cd to test,
