broken +exaust bolts?
ho what do i do about drilling into a water jacket behind the exaust manifold stud.will taping it and putting thred lock on the threds hold back the pressure of the colling system
Can't figure where some of these nutty answers came from!
Do you realize on a small block chevy, the bolts which hold on the water pump are through drilled into the water jacket? also some of the head bolts also? Yes, the threads seal the pressure of the water.
Coolant pressure only runs 13-16 psi which isn't really a lot, but it can still seep out of the threads. Use an "anaerobic" sealant on the threads. I like to use regular pipe dope, (not Teflon tape). It works great.
If I understand, you just drilled out the hole too far correct? Just tap it out, (coarse threads ONLY if aluminum), dope up a new stud and put it all back together. It will be fine.
